the duties on Intoxicating Liquors which were estimated to

bring in six lakhs or according to the spokesman of the

Unofficial Members in the debate on the introduction of the

Liquor Bill "something over a million" have only produced

about 34 lakhs, which after deduction of the cost of collect-

-ion and the Military Contribution leaves only about 24 lakhs

nett. I am therefore at present unable to recommend an

addition to the permanent charges which is not absolutely and

unavoidably necessary.
